Corporate Stress Management and Motivation.

More and more UK firms are discovering the human and economic benefits of
hiring in-house stress busters. Eighty per cent of the blue-chip
companies provide some form of corporate stress therapy, ranging from
office massages to 24-hour help lines and of course Hypnotherapists.
Under hypnosis, the conscious part of the brain is bypassed and the
subconscious becomes receptive to the power of suggestion suggestion. In
corporate hypnotherapy, a practitioner may use a process of deep
relaxation. This can be a form of healing in itself, bringing about
changes in the body and mind. It can be used to alleviate corporate
anxiety and stress within minutes.

| Many people are confused about what stress is, and in particular the
difference between pressure and stress:
Pressure is the stimulation and challenge you need to
achieve job satisfaction and self-esteem.
Stress is a reaction to continued excessive pressure or
responsibility when you feel inadequate or unable to cope with any given
situation.
The 'stress response' is a mechanism within your body, used to help it cope with
danger. As soon as you're aware that something is threatening you, your brain
sends messages to your nervous system to either get ready to stand and fight, or
run away. Your heart rate and breathing go into overdrive, and you may start to
sweat. Hormones including adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisol - a hormone
that helps your body adapt to stress - are pumped into your bloodstream. Glucose
and fatty acid levels are also increased to provide energy for your muscles to
deal with the perceived threat. All these reactions take place automatically and
instantly at the first signs of danger.
This response, is known as 'fight or flight' and it is vital to our survival.
Unfortunately, whereas in Stone Age times we would usually have time to recover
from the life or death encounters that triggered the response, in the modern
world we're confronted with a continuous stream of 'stressors' that our bodies
perceive as threats, and react to accordingly.
Today, these threats could include financial pressures, fear of redundancy,
overwork, deadline pressures or an important business presentations. The
constant, ongoing pressure resulting from these stressors is different to the
more immediate dangers that our stress response was designed to cope with. And
it's at the point at which our bodies cannot recover from these pressures that
we can begin to experience stress overload.
Stress is an individual response. What causes stress in one person may
not cause stress in another. But typically it is the point at which the
pressure of dealing with all the issues confronting us gets beyond our
ability to cope that stress will be a likely outcome.

Some of the causes of stress within an organisation could be an imbalance
between the demands placed on employees and their ability to control how their
work is organised. For example: Work overload or 'under load', difficulties with
working arrangements, shift patterns, Unclear roles and responsibilities, poor
management, poor communication, insufficient support, organisational change,
fear of redundancy, technology overload or a long hours work culture.

| If large numbers of people within a particular team, department, or the whole
organisation are experiencing stress, this can have serious effects on business.
Such effects could include: High levels of absenteeism, increased staff
turnover, poor job performance, low morale, low worker commitment, increased
frequency of accidents, industrial relations difficulties, poor relationships
with customers and difficulty in retaining good managers.
All of the above can result in an increase in direct and indirect costs to
the organisation and even possible litigation.

1. Corporate Group Stress Management Presentations

in the work place. these presentations can be aimed at Management or Workers.
Presentations can be arranged from 30 minutes to 8 hours in length.
2. Personal Stress Management
Here David Knight can assess all individuals within the work place and work
on a one to one basis. This work could include targeting and goal setting,
personal issues such as relationships, time management, communication,
determination and personal performance and of course personal causes of stress.
3. Stress Management Training
The third area of the Stress Management program includes teaching Management
or Workers how they can learn self hypnosis to combat stress at the work place
and at home. A stress free employee is far more effective and productive and
they become an asset to the company.
